Internet Singles League

Rules
• Each league has 4 or 5 players in it, with approximately 6 weeks for each league season. Therefore all players must complete season 1 matches by 15th December 2010. At the end of the league season the top player (or top 2 players) in each division will be promoted and the bottom player (or bottom 2 players) relegated, and new divisions drawn up. In the event of players being level at the end of the league season, the head to head match(es), then the most number of games will decide the winner. Season 2 will start as soon as the season 1 tables have been calculated and you will be notified of the date for completion.
• For the competition to work players who enter must be committed to take part all the way through the event, and not drop out if they are relegated. If a player does not play any matches within any one league season without a good reason they will be taken out of the event.
• Each player is responsible to arrange her/his matches to ensure she/he completes all her/his league matches by the end of the season. A list of emails and contact numbers will be sent to each player participating in the competition.
• Matches will be 2 short sets. First to 4 games, with 2 clear games. So if the score is 4-3 another game must be played, and if 4-4 a normal tie break must be played. If it goes 1 set all then there will be a match tie-break decider (first to 10 points and at least 2 clear). Points will be awarded as follows :
Winner : 1 point
Loser : 0 point
Standing will be based on match points and if equal head-to-head, sets difference, games difference The match winner is responsible to record the result of the match in the sheet provided in the clubhouse or via email to jm.fabry@gmail.com
• All results will be sent to the L.T.A. for ratings purposes. Results will be compiled at the end of each week and will be available on the Internet and in the club house.
• Players should attempt to avoid busy club periods for playing their matches - Saturday and Sunday mornings between 9a.m. and 12p.m. tend to be busiest.
• As there are so many matches in the Internet Singles League there is sometimes a danger that too many matches are taking place at the same time and not leaving room for others who want to play doubles. Internet Singles League matches do not have priority on court over social games, so you cannot ask players to vacate a court for your match. However, once your match has started you should be allowed to complete it unless club league matches or Team Tennis matches are due to take place. Please wait for other singles leagues to finish if 2 or more are already taking place rather than taking up another court if you also have a match.
• Please consult the website and notice-boards for information about club matches to avoid clashes. After 12.00p.m. on Saturdays and 12.00p.m. until 2.00p.m. on Sundays are normally reasonably quiet (unless there are club league matches). Also, more use of the floodlights would be the ideal way of guaranteeing court time and avoiding long waits. There are also hardly any floodlight bookings at a weekend. Most matches should be finished within an hour, although a 90 minute booking would be safer bearing in mind some knock-ups last for half an hour.
• The Tournament Referee is Jean-Marie Fabry (07930 644464) whose decision is final in all matters. You can also contact me if you have any question.
